Mission. Synthetic Presentation

The mission of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport is to train highly qualified specialists, following the teaching and research process, in partnership with the sports environment, public and private sector services, research institutions or university centers, being in line with the university's mission, the university's development strategy and the UAV's internal regulations, the fundamental aim being a quality education, organized in the full cycle of undergraduate and master's degree programs.

The mission of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, defined in the strategy of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, is to assume the role of the development engine of society, by constantly monitoring the demand of specialists from the physical education and sports environment and the permanent adaptation of the educational offer, creating professional, cross-cutting and research skills, in all areas addressed.

The entire activity of the faculty aligns with the University Development Strategy and the UAV Internal Regulations, the fundamental goal being a quality education, organized in the full cycle of undergraduate and master's degree programs.

The Faculty of Physical Education and Sport aims to train specialists in the field of physical education and sport by ensuring the quality of the system of initial training and continuous training of teaching staff in educational institutions, in accordance with educational policies in the field, with the requirements of the labour market and with developments of specific theoretical and practical disciplines, promoting an interdisciplinary approach and with firm concerns towards fundamental and applied scientific research.

The university programs operating within the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport in the academic year 2016-2017, in accordance with the provisions of the HOST concerning the approval of the nomenclature of fields and specializations/programs of university studies and the structure of higher education institutions for the academic year 2016-2017, are:

- Physical and sports education (Bologna system - level I – 180 credits, duration of schooling 3 years), for undergraduate studies;

- Curricular and extracurricular motor activities (Bologna system - level II – 120 credits, duration of schooling 2 years), for master's degree studies.

Teachers from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport work in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Performance, providing quality educational services in accordance with ARACIS criteria, standards and performance indicators. All our staff are doctors in the field, specializing in various sports branches with a coach's or referees' license in the sports branch in which they specialize. Teachers also have a rich scientific research activity in the field.

Objectives of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport

The Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, part of the "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad, acts to fully integrate into the European Higher Education Area.

The strategic approach, in line with the Strategy of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, comprises objectives focused on four main directions:

- didactic activity and teachers, a direction designed to provide students with the necessary skills to be integrated as quickly and efficiently as possible into the labour market,

- scientific research, the major criterion for ranking in higher education,

- partnership with students,

- partnership with the sports environment, which refers to the feedback of the research, teaching and counseling of students, reflected in their integration into the labour market.

The operational objectives of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport are:

  • training of specialists, with appropriate qualifications for the programs of studies promoted within the faculty;
  • periodic analysis of curricula, discipline sheets, aiming to eliminate overlaps or gaps between subjects, with a focus on the best preparation of students;
  • improving the teaching system (including the provision of teaching material) and the knowledge assessment system, with distinct reference to the development of as many courses and laboratory guidance as possible;
  • development of scientific research in the field of studies, initiating scientific research activities, on their own and in collaboration with similar institutions in the country and abroad; ;
  • transmission of multi-interdisciplinary knowledge;
  • university training in the fundamental field, compatible with European Union standards, the training offer being also designed to ensure student mobility in Europe;
  • capitalizing for education the results of scientific research, by organizing scientific events within the faculty and publishing the papers presented, aiming to increase the number of scientific papers supported and published abroad;
  • equipping the library's own library through internal funds and research projects, including specialized works (treaties, manuals, magazines, etc.) in the Romanian language and in the languages of international circulation;
  • exchanges of publications with high-profile universities in the country and abroad;
  • subscribing to the main specialized magazines in the country and abroad;
  • the use of modern teaching methods in order to increase the quality and efficiency of the educational process and to stimulate the active participation of students in the debate of the problems taught;
  • development of the transferable credit system;
  • developing the spirit of competitiveness in the professional and scientific training of students, by granting merit and study scholarships;
  • stimulating the interest of graduates to continue professional, scientific and specialized training, to adapt, appropriately, to the requirements of the knowledge-based society.

I.PRESENTATION OF THE LICENCE STUDY PROGRAMME:

PHYSICAL AND SPORTING EDUCATION

Since the 2005-2006 academic year, the specialization of Physical and Sports Education (EFS) has been established at the Aurel Vlaicu University in Arad, authorized to operate provisionally on the basis of the address of the National Council for Academic Assessment and Accreditation No. 656 of 24.03.2005 and HG 916 of 11.08.2005.

Based on the address ARACIS nr. 4832 of 05.05.2011 and HG 966 of 29.09.2011, published in MOf 697 of 01.10.2011 was accredited the undergraduate program Physical education and sports.

The Bachelor's program of Physical and Sports Education (EFS), the form of education with frequency, has its teaching and research mission in accordance with the mission of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport and the Department of Physical Education and Sports Performance.

II. PRESENTATION OF THE MASTERATE STUDY PROGRAMME:

CURRICULAR AND EXTRACURRICULAR MOTRIC ACTIVITIES

"Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad organizes the master's degree program Motor Curricular and Extracurricular Activities within the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, in the field of Physical Education and Sport.

Master's degree studies ensure an adequate level of qualification to the exercise of a profession with a view to entering the labour market, through appropriate general and specialized knowledge.

Since the 2005-2006 academic year, the specialization of Physical and Sports Education, authorized to operate provisionally on the basis of the address of the National Council for Academic Assessment and Accreditation No. 656 of 24.03.2005 and HG 916 of 11.08.2005.

Based on the address ARACIS nr. 4832 of 05.05.2011 and HG 966 of 29.09.2011, published in MOf 697 of 01.10.2011 was accredited undergraduate program Physical and sports education.

The Master's degree program Motor Curricular and Extracurricular Activities is aimed at graduates with higher education, who want to deepen their knowledge of the motor sciences, as well as to acquire specific skills in order to increase the quality of the expertise of the specialist in the field of sports science.
